Lamb's Bag o' Blood

At Christmas I told Lamb that I was making her a bag. Well Christmas came and went and I still hadn't gotten around to making it. Her birthday was this week so I figured if I was going to make it, I had to have it finished in time for her birthday or was it was never going to get done. I am the Queen of Procrastination. If only I had a crown. Or a sceptre! Yes, that would be excellent. Hmm...I wonder if I could make a sceptre....

Anyway, back to the bag. I didn't really have any idea of how I was going to make it, I just decided to go to the fabric store and let the fabric give me ideas. Walking through the store, I came across a dark red cotton that reminded me of blood. Then I thought, what if I make the bag look like blood? Then you're probably asking, why the hell would you want a bag that looked like blood? Well, Melanie happens to be the biggest horror film fan that I know. Personally, I cannot watch a horror movie. I just can't. I scare easily and the sight of gore makes me nauseous. I am a wimp. She is not.

So I ended up pairing the red cotton with a black corduroy. The inside was the red and the outside with the black. I made a free hand pattern for the whole thing including what was suppose to look like blood pouring out of the top of the bag. It took my four months to complete and only one evening to actually do. Like I said, Queen of Procrastination.
